Roll-Off Dumpster Rental across Bloomington-Normal and McLean County

Every job we do is a roll-off: a large, open-top rectangular container that rolls off the truck onto your driveway, property or job site, sits there while you fill it, and goes back on the truck when you call. It is temporary — one container, one delivery and one pickup plan — and then it is gone. This page is about the box itself — the sizes, the weight, the space it needs and what the price covers — for anyone who just wants to know what they are renting.

The yard is at 2014 Cabinton Rd, Bloomington, IL 61701 — inside the City of Bloomington, McLean County, on a city street right by the I-55 / I-74 and Veterans Parkway interchange on the south-west side of town. Approximate road miles from the yard: central Bloomington about 3, Normal about 6, Downs about 11, Heyworth about 12, Hudson about 14, Danvers about 15, Towanda about 16, Le Roy about 18, Clinton about 23, Lexington and El Paso about 24, Lincoln about 29, Gridley about 31, Chenoa about 32 and Pontiac about 43.

How a roll-off works

The truck backs in and sets the container on the spot you agreed. You load it over the open top, keeping everything below the top rim — an overfilled container may not be legal or safe to haul. Spread the load evenly. Call when it is done; the truck comes back, loads it and hauls it, tarped as Illinois law requires for garbage and refuse (625 ILCS 5/15-109.1).

Space is the thing to check before you book: a flat, solid surface such as a driveway, gravel or pavement, about 60 feet of clear approach for the truck, and clear space overhead, free of wires and branches. Parked cars, bins and equipment are the usual obstacles. If you will not be home, mark the spot with cones, tape or chalk. Any street placement needs the city's permission first — in Bloomington, the Engineering Division's Dumpster Permit, applied for at least 3 business days ahead.

What the flat rate includes

We provide flat-rate pricing whenever possible, so you know the cost before scheduling: delivery, pickup and disposal are typically included in your quote, along with the standard rental period and the weight allowance for your size. The price itself depends on the dumpster size, the material type and weight, the delivery zone, the rental duration and the number of pickups or swap-outs — which is why we quote each job rather than publish a price list. Two things can add to it: going over the included weight, when an overage fee may apply based on disposal weight, and keeping the container longer, at an additional daily or weekly rate. We explain all of it on the first call. No hidden fees. Call (309) 893-1463 for a quote.

Roll-off rental around Bloomington — where the loads go

There is no active municipal solid waste landfill in McLean County — the Illinois EPA lists the McLean County landfill and the old City of Bloomington landfill as closed and in post-closure care — so loads from Bloomington-Normal travel to permitted facilities outside the county. Every load goes to a site that is allowed to take it. What stays out of the box matters as much: Illinois keeps electronics (415 ILCS 151/1-83), lead-acid vehicle batteries (415 ILCS 5/22.23), used tires (415 ILCS 5/55), white goods with their regulated components still in (415 ILCS 5/22.28), landscape waste mixed with other waste (415 ILCS 5/22.22) and liquid used oil (415 ILCS 5/21.6) out of landfill-bound waste, and Normal's code bars any private hauler from collecting refuse that state or federal law keeps out of a landfill (§ 21.1-6). So we ask what is going in before we quote. On the road, every load is covered: Illinois requires vehicles to be loaded so nothing drops or escapes (625 ILCS 5/15-109), and garbage and refuse trucks to run with a secure tailgate and a cover (625 ILCS 5/15-109.1); Bloomington's hauler rules also require containers to be covered so nothing leaks or spills (§ 36-109).

Answers

Roll-Off Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

What is the difference between a roll-off and a regular dumpster?

A regular dumpster is a permanent container emptied on a route. A roll-off is a temporary open-top container delivered for a project and hauled away when you are done. Roll-offs are what we do.

How full can I load it?

Keep all debris below the top rim. If it is overfilled, it may not be legal or safe to haul, and keeping the weight evenly distributed helps ensure a smooth pickup. If you need more room, call and we can swap it for an empty one.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

No. As long as we know where to place the dumpster and the area is clear of vehicles and obstacles, the driver places it where you asked. Same for pickup.

How quickly can you deliver?

Same-day or next-day, when availability allows. Call early in the day — before midday gives the best chance of same-day.

Can I not just haul it to the dump myself?

You can, for a few loads, but cover the load — Illinois requires any load to be secured so nothing drops or escapes (625 ILCS 5/15-109). There is no active landfill in McLean County, so the drive is longer than people expect. Bloomington residents can take leaves, brush, grass, appliances and empty propane tanks to the City's Citizen Convenience Center, but it no longer takes concrete, rock, shingles or brick and is not open to contractors. A roll-off is the option when the job is more than a couple of trips, or you would rather not make them.

What does a roll-off cost in Bloomington?

It depends on the size, the material type and weight, the delivery zone, the rental duration and the number of pickups or swap-outs, so we quote each job rather than publish a price list. The quote is flat-rate whenever possible, with delivery, pickup and disposal typically included, a weight allowance — about 1 to 2 tons on a 10 yard up to 5 to 6 on a 40 — and the standard rental period, with no hidden fees. Call (309) 893-1463 with the address and what is going in and you will have a number before you hang up.
