Roll-off dumpster rental in Hudson

Approx. 14 road miles from the yard, around 17 minutes.

Hudson is approx. 14 road miles north of the yard, around 17 minutes — same-day or next-day when availability allows; call early for the best chance of same-day. It is a village of 1,753 at the 2020 Census, in McLean County.

The Village's history page says Hudson was laid out in 1836 and incorporated in 1873, and that Interstate 39 was completed in 1992. Garbage collection is billed with the water bill through the Village's contracted hauler, with two 95-gallon carts and free bulky-item pickup on Mondays — but construction waste is on the Village's “can't” list. Remodels and roofs go out in a roll-off.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Hudson

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Interstate 39 — completed in 1992, the Village's history page says.
  • Hubbard home — the boyhood home of Elbert Hubbard, built in 1857, still stands at Broadway and Walnut Streets, according to the Village's history page.
  • Yard waste bunker — behind the Hudson Township shed on E. Franklin St.
  • Electronics — the Village points residents to the Town of Normal's drop-off for McLean County residents at 1301 Warriner Street.

What comes out of Hudson properties

Garage clean-outs and flooring in 15s, roofing in 10s and 20s, remodels and landscaping in 20s, estate clean-outs in 30s, construction in 30s and 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete and dirt — heavy material usually only goes in the smaller boxes. Construction waste is exactly what Village curbside won't take. Illinois keeps some things out of landfills: TVs, computers, monitors, printers and other electronics (415 ILCS 151/1-83); lead-acid vehicle batteries (415 ILCS 5/22.23); tires, whole or cut (415 ILCS 5/55); refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water heaters and other large appliances unless their refrigerant and mercury parts have been removed (415 ILCS 5/22.28); and liquid used oil (415 ILCS 5/21.6). Landfills can't take landscape waste, and it can't be mixed with other waste headed for one (415 ILCS 5/22.22) — tell us if a load is yard waste, and before you load an appliance. No paint, solvents, oils, fuel, hazardous chemicals, propane tanks, gas cylinders, batteries, medical waste or asbestos.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Hudson

Who may haul — the rule that matters: the Village's contractor collects residential refuse, and other nonresidential customers may use the Village's approved collector or contract on their own (Village Code 4-2-3). The code defines “refuse” to include construction and demolition wastes and defines a licensed waste collector as one holding a Village licence to collect or transport refuse (4-2-1), but we did not find the section that sets up that licence. We found no exclusive roll-off franchise. We're licensed and insured.

In the street: a contractor needs the Mayor's written permission to put materials in a street, alley or sidewalk, using no more than a third of the street's width or half of the sidewalk, for no longer than the work requires (7-1-3). The section doesn't name dumpsters. A driveway is the simple spot — give us clear placement instructions and you don't need to be home for the drop-off.

State routes: IDOT requires a highway permit before any work in the right-of-way of an interstate, a US route, an Illinois route or another state-maintained road (605 ILCS 5/4-209, as IDOT cites it), and it has no dumpster or container permit type — so beside a state route the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. Not every stretch through a town is state-maintained, so we check the exact address.

Knocking something down: before a regulated asbestos demolition or renovation, Illinois EPA must get a notification form and a $150 fee 10 working days ahead. A privately owned house, or an apartment building of four or fewer units, is exempt unless it has had or will have a commercial or public use. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if you find any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Hudson

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it below the top rim and keep the problem items out — paint and solvents, oil and fuel, chemicals, tires, batteries, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, TVs and computers, and fridges or other appliances still holding refrigerant. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right

The load is tarped and goes to a permitted facility, with metal, concrete, asphalt and yard waste recycled whenever facilities accept them. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Hudson — common questions

Is Hudson same-day?

Same-day or next-day when availability allows — it is about 17 minutes from the yard. Call (309) 893-1463 early for the best chance.

Will Village curbside take my construction waste?

No. The Village lists construction waste among the things its curbside program can't take.

Can a dumpster go in a Hudson street?

Building materials in a street need the Mayor's written permission, limited to a third of the street's width and only as long as the work requires (Village Code 7-1-3). A driveway is simpler.

Where do I take old TVs and computers from Hudson?

The Village points McLean County residents to the Town of Normal's electronics drop-off at 1301 Warriner Street. Illinois keeps electronics out of landfills, so they don't go in the roll-off.
