Roll-off dumpster rental in Lincoln

Approx. 29 road miles from the yard, around 36 minutes.

Lincoln is approx. 29 road miles southwest of the yard, around 36 minutes — same-day or next-day when availability allows; call early for the best chance of same-day. It is a city of 13,288 at the 2020 Census, in Logan County.

The City says lots went on sale on August 27, 1853, and that the same day Abraham Lincoln christened the town with watermelon juice — now marked by a watermelon statue near the railroad depot — making it the first city named for him before his presidency. Single-family homes must have City waste collection, through an exclusive agreement with the City's contractor that runs to February 28, 2027 and leaves out construction waste.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Lincoln

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Watermelon christening — Abraham Lincoln christened the town with watermelon juice on August 27, 1853, commemorated by a watermelon statue near the railroad depot.
  • First city named for Lincoln — before his presidency, the City says.
  • Landscape waste facility — 957 Broadwell Dr., just east of Old Route 66 (Lincoln Parkway), Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
  • Residential trash — required for single-family homes, $18.03 a month as of March 1, 2026. City Hall is at 700 Broadway Street.

What comes out of Lincoln properties

Roofing in 10s and 20s, remodels in 20s, multi-room renovations in 30s, new construction and major demolition in 30s and 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete and dirt — heavy material usually only goes in the smaller boxes. Construction, remodeling, repair and demolition waste is what the City's residential agreement leaves out. Illinois keeps some things out of landfills: TVs, computers, monitors, printers and other electronics (415 ILCS 151/1-83); lead-acid vehicle batteries (415 ILCS 5/22.23); tires, whole or cut (415 ILCS 5/55); refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water heaters and other large appliances unless their refrigerant and mercury parts have been removed (415 ILCS 5/22.28); and liquid used oil (415 ILCS 5/21.6). Landfills can't take landscape waste, and it can't be mixed with other waste headed for one (415 ILCS 5/22.22) — tell us if a load is yard waste, and before you load an appliance. No paint, solvents, oils, fuel, hazardous chemicals, propane tanks, gas cylinders, batteries, medical waste or asbestos.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Lincoln

Who may haul — the rule that matters: Lincoln's Waste Haulers chapter makes it unlawful to operate without a valid City waste hauler licence (§ 3-21-1); its exemption for landscape companies and demolition contractors expressly does not include construction dumpster services (§ 3-21-11(B)). Licences run May 1 to April 30 (§ 3-21-2) and are applied for through the City Clerk's Office (§ 3-21-3(A)); each truck shows the business name and phone on both sides (§ 3-21-4(B)(1)), and fines run $75 to $750. No hauler may be licensed in conflict with the City's exclusive residential agreement (§ 3-21-1). We're licensed and insured.

The residential agreement — read this first: owners of single-family homes must have City waste collection (§ 7-16-2(A)), and the City's agreement gives its contractor the sole right to collect residential waste and recycling from single-family homes from March 1, 2022 to February 28, 2027. The agreement leaves out construction waste — materials from construction, remodeling, repair and demolition (§§ 2.12, 18.1) — but its residential waste covers a household's casual or occasional refuse and debris (§ 18.4), so a household cleanout container at a single-family home may fall under it. We check the City's rules before booking a household cleanout container in Lincoln. Illinois law bars any city or village under 1,000,000 people from awarding a new franchise or contract for collecting construction or demolition debris (65 ILCS 5/11-19-1(f); contracts in place on 1 January 2018 excepted).

In the street: no dumpster larger than two cubic yards may be placed on a street without a permit (§ 8-3-18), and a container over one yard on a road carries 36 inches of alternating reflective orange and white strips; fines run $75 to $500 a day. The permit is a written one from the Street Department Superintendent, limited to a third of a street or half a sidewalk, with a bond filed with the City Clerk (at least $1,000, or $10,000 yearly) and amber safety lights at night (§ 8-3-3). We found no permit fee. A driveway is the simple spot.

State routes: IDOT requires a highway permit before any work in the right-of-way of an interstate, a US route, an Illinois route or another state-maintained road (605 ILCS 5/4-209, as IDOT cites it), and it has no dumpster or container permit type — so beside a state route the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. Not every stretch through a town is state-maintained, so we check the exact address.

Knocking something down: before a regulated asbestos demolition or renovation, Illinois EPA must get a notification form and a $150 fee 10 working days ahead. A privately owned house, or an apartment building of four or fewer units, is exempt unless it has had or will have a commercial or public use. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if you find any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Lincoln

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it below the top rim and keep the problem items out — paint and solvents, oil and fuel, chemicals, tires, batteries, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, TVs and computers, and fridges or other appliances still holding refrigerant. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right

The load is tarped and goes to a permitted facility, with metal, concrete, asphalt and yard waste recycled whenever facilities accept them. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Lincoln — common questions

Is Lincoln same-day?

Same-day or next-day when availability allows — it is about 36 minutes from the yard. Call (309) 893-1463 early for the best chance.

Can I get a cleanout dumpster at my house in Lincoln?

The City's exclusive residential agreement covers a single-family household's casual or occasional refuse, so a household cleanout may fall under it. We check the City's rules before booking a household cleanout container in Lincoln.

Does the City's trash agreement cover construction debris?

No. The agreement excludes construction waste, meaning materials from construction, remodeling, repair and demolition (Sec. 2.12 and 18.1).

Can a dumpster go in a Lincoln street?

A dumpster over two cubic yards needs a written permit from the Street Department Superintendent, with a bond and amber lights at night, and reflective striping (City Code Sec. 8-3-18 and 8-3-3). A driveway is simpler.
