Roll-off dumpster rental in Lexington
Approx. 24 road miles from the yard, around 29 minutes.
Lexington is approx. 24 road miles northeast of the yard, around 29 minutes — same-day or next-day when availability allows; call early for the best chance of same-day. It is a city of 2,090 at the 2020 Census, in McLean County.
The City's history says Lexington was laid out on 4 January 1836 by Asahel Gridley and James Brown, that Lincoln's funeral train passed through in 1865, and that the railroad and later Route 66 and Interstate 55 helped the town grow. City garbage service, through its contractor, covers one- and two-family homes only, and it excludes waste from building and construction operations (City Code § 183-5C(1)).

Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Lexington
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Laid out in 1836 — by Asahel Gridley and James Brown, the City's history says.
- Theodore Roosevelt — spoke at the depot in 1903.
- Patton cabin — the restored cabin sits near the Lexington pool park and pavilion.
- Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor — among the City's events.
- Landscape waste — the drop-off is at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and contractors must dispose of the brush they generate (§ 118-15). City Hall is at 329 W Main St.
What comes out of Lexington properties
Roofing in 10s and 20s, garage clean-outs and flooring in 15s, remodels and landscaping in 20s, multi-room renovations and estate clean-outs in 30s, construction in 30s and 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete and dirt — heavy material usually only goes in the smaller boxes. City code doesn't count earth and wastes from building operations as refuse (§ 183-3). Illinois keeps some things out of landfills: TVs, computers, monitors, printers and other electronics (415 ILCS 151/1-83); lead-acid vehicle batteries (415 ILCS 5/22.23); tires, whole or cut (415 ILCS 5/55); refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water heaters and other large appliances unless their refrigerant and mercury parts have been removed (415 ILCS 5/22.28); and liquid used oil (415 ILCS 5/21.6). Landfills can't take landscape waste, and it can't be mixed with other waste headed for one (415 ILCS 5/22.22) — tell us if a load is yard waste, and before you load an appliance. No paint, solvents, oils, fuel, hazardous chemicals, propane tanks, gas cylinders, batteries, medical waste or asbestos.

Sizes
Choosing a container size in Lexington
Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much room the pile takes up.
| Size | Dimensions | Capacity | Weight included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Yard Dumpster | about 14 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 3.5 ft high | about 3 pickup truck loads | 1–2 tons | Small kitchen and bathroom remodels, roof tear-offs, garage and single-room cleanouts, and concrete, tile, asphalt and brick within the weight limit. |
| 15 Yard Dumpster | about 16 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 4–5 pickup truck loads | 2–3 tons | Garage, attic and basement cleanouts, kitchen and bath remodels, flooring and carpet removal, light roofing, small decks and fences, and yard waste. |
| 20 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 6 pickup truck loads | 3–4 tons | Whole-home cleanouts, multi-room renovations, roofing projects, large landscaping jobs and light demolition with mixed debris. |
| 30 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 6 ft high | about 9 pickup truck loads | 4–5 tons | Multi-room and full-house renovations, estate and rental property cleanouts, retail and office remodels, light demolition and community cleanups. |
| 40 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 8 ft high | about 12 pickup truck loads | 5–6 tons | Commercial renovations, new builds and major demolition, full-home remodels, warehouse and office cleanouts, commercial roofing and large event cleanups. |
Permits, placement and who may haul in Lexington
Who may haul — the rule that matters: the City provides garbage and refuse service through its disposal contractor to one- and two-family homes only, not to businesses or buildings of more than two units (§ 183-4A), and that service excludes waste from building and construction operations (§ 183-5C(1)). We found no exclusivity or hauler licence language in Chapter 183; the licensing chapter (Ch. 95) was not read. We're licensed and insured.
In the street: creating or keeping an obstruction in any street is unlawful unless authorized by ordinance or by the Street Superintendent (§ 190-5), and garbage or rubbish may not be placed on streets, sidewalks or alleys (§ 190-15B). We found no container permit or fee. A driveway is the simple spot — give us clear placement instructions and you don't need to be home for the drop-off.
State routes: IDOT requires a highway permit before any work in the right-of-way of an interstate, a US route, an Illinois route or another state-maintained road (605 ILCS 5/4-209, as IDOT cites it), and it has no dumpster or container permit type — so beside a state route the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. Not every stretch through a town is state-maintained, so we check the exact address.
Knocking something down: before a regulated asbestos demolition or renovation, Illinois EPA must get a notification form and a $150 fee 10 working days ahead. A privately owned house, or an apartment building of four or fewer units, is exempt unless it has had or will have a commercial or public use. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if you find any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Lexington
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the address, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home.
Step 4: Load it at your pace
Keep it below the top rim and keep the problem items out — paint and solvents, oil and fuel, chemicals, tires, batteries, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, TVs and computers, and fridges or other appliances still holding refrigerant. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right
The load is tarped and goes to a permitted facility, with metal, concrete, asphalt and yard waste recycled whenever facilities accept them. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers
Dumpster rental in Lexington — common questions
Is Lexington same-day?
Same-day or next-day when availability allows — it is about 29 minutes from the yard. Call (309) 893-1463 early for the best chance.
Will City garbage take my remodel debris?
No. City service excludes waste from building and construction operations (City Code Sec. 183-5C), and it covers one- and two-family homes only.
Can a dumpster go in a Lexington street?
Only if authorized by ordinance or by the Street Superintendent (Sec. 190-5). We found no permit form or fee. A driveway is simpler.
Can contractors leave brush on the parkway?
No. City code makes contractors and persons for hire responsible for the brush and limbs they generate, and they may not place it on City parkways (Sec. 118-15).
